Sergeant Pring and the Calcutta Hurricane

Joydeep Sircar has produced a fascinating article covering action which occurred in India involving 176 Squadron RAF.

The article covers a number of interrelated areas:

1. The life of Maurice Pring, who shot down three Japanese Sally bombers over Calcutta, while flying a Beaufighter.

2. A brief history of AI radar including details of its use in the Hurricane II C (NF) which served on 176 Squadron in India.

3. Details of Pring's last flight, in a Hurricane, when he was shot down and killed by Japanese Zero fighters.

4. More information has become available to him, so he has revised his article.

Read the article.
